2nd Saturdays in Media, PA
Welcome to a New Year Filled with Art!

Whether you're calling it "Twenty-ten" or "Two-thousand-ten," you're sure to find something you like at Media's 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll. Music, art, fiction, and more will offer artistic inspiration to visitors of all interests.

Main Event: Friends Gospel Choir, Delaware County Institute of Science

Friends Choir
Motivated by the need to bring positive social and cultural experiences to the Chester Upland school district, the Friends Choir was started in 2003 and has become a renowned vocal group who has performed throughout the tri-state area. Bringing together twelve dedicated voices, hearts and souls, they have the mission of inspiring a sense of community and spirituality. All ages are welcome.


Featured Artist: Anne Marie Palita, Coffee Beanery (Map # 17)

Relax with some coffee and the breathtaking photography of Anne Marie Palita. The artist is a self-taught, award-winning photographer who has traveled extensively throughout the world. "Travel abroad offers a novel range of subjects and challenges for me to explore and interpret, in addition to my long-term emphasis on nature photography," says the artist. Palita is a Delaware County resident and M.A.C. Registry Artist.

New Event and 2nd Saturday Location! Book Signing

This month we are also proud to have our very first book signing, "Seven Days at Oak Valley," by Ruthie-Marie Beckwith. The author, Ruthie-Marie Beckwith, is a long time ally to self-advocacy groups in Tennessee and across the county. She will be at our brand new 2nd Saturday location, Values into Action. (Map # C)
The novel, involves a young man, Tony, who lives in an institution in East Tennessee in 1978. He becomes an unlikely sleuth when the murder and mayhem at the institution increases above the normal rates.

2nd Saturday is a family-friendly community event. Attractions of special interest to those with kids include a collaborative drawing of Dr. Martin Luther King by students of Media-Providence Friends School at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (Map # 18,) and artwork by students of Strath Haven Middle School at O'Malley's Ice Cream (Map #13,) accompanied by the Marvelous magic music man, Joseph Kinsolving, who will be performing from 6:30-8:30pm.

Seven Stones Cafe will feature "Faces in Nature" photography by Stephen Pidcock and music by Anna Spackman, and Christie Lenee. (Map # 29)

About 2nd Saturday in Media:

On the 2nd Saturday of every month, over 40 businesses on and around State Street in Media stay open late as part of a free arts event. From 6:00 to 9:00 pm, shops, galleries and cafes host local musicians or display the work of local artists. Visitors can stroll the friendly streets of Media and use M.A.C.'s map to find music, art and participating shops.
