Last Friday, August 14th, Tyme Gallery hosted the opening of it's 12th annual "Inner Essence Juried Exhibit". 2nd Saturday artists gathered in Havertown to congratulate the winner, Helene Miller, a registered artist of the Media Arts Council. Helene won 1st place in this special exhibit, in which Tyme Gallery has invited her back for a solo show opening January 8, 2010. Many thanks must go to Tyme Gallery for it's endless support for the arts.

2nd Saturday Scavenger Hunt, Photo Recap August 2009

2nd Saturday in Media, 6 to 9pm Every Month along State StreetHighlights from around town: David Gerbstadt

One of the many 2nd Saturday locations featured a book reading of the artist's original "The Red Heart Book," and original artwork at Franklin Mint Credit Union & Coffee Beanery Please view the August 2009 map here. Visit David's website to find out how to purchase a copy.

David Gerbstadt copyright 2009 The annual Scavenger Hunt was a huge success, and the weather was perfect. Visitors from all over the tri-state area stopped by the Media Arts Council table, on State Street, to pick up a Scavenger Hunt "Riddle Sheet". Local businesses were gracious enough to give a "clue" about something in their shop, or event held at their location and then participants searched for the answers. At 9:00pm completed riddle sheets were chosen at random, and gift baskets were given out to the winners. There was a child's gift basket, and an adult gift basket filled with donated goodies from many of the participating locations. Family fun was had by all, and every child received a sticker for participating.

Please be sure to check back often to view all of our upcoming events.

Here's an example of one of the riddles:
There’s no business like show business. Visit this historic treasure across from the school, it’s really too cool. Because we hope to hear… when it was built…please be sure to write down the year.

On the 2nd Saturday of every month, over 30 businesses on and around State Street in Media stay open late as part of a free arts event. From 6:00 to 9:00 pm, shops, galleries and cafes host local musicians or display the work of local artists. Visitors can stroll the friendly streets of Media and use M.A.C.'s map to find music, art and participating shops.
